Valencia, California - September 2, 1997 - Solid Concepts Inc. and MICROCADAM, Inc. (Los Angeles, CA) today announce an OEM agreement. Under this agreement the SolidView® product line from Solid Concepts will be marketed and distributed though MICROCADAM, Inc.'s global Value Added Reseller (VAR) channel. The two firms, located within 30 miles of each other, agreed to engage in cooperative marketing activities and to work closely together to insure that solid models from MICROCADAM, Inc.'s Helix Modeling can be used effectively and efficiently with SolidView. Evaluation copies of SolidView will be downloadable from MICROCADAM, Inc's website http://www.microcadam.com.
SolidView provides real-time rendering, including shading, smooth shading, faces of solid and wire-frame display of modeling data output from Helix Modeling in STL (stereolithography), VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) and optionally IGES formats. SolidView is not simply a viewer. The package allows operators to perform dimensional measurements of and between edges, vertices, arcs and circles, and to calculate an object's volume, surface area and center of gravity. Operators can also dynamically display complex cross sections, print images, and cut and paste data with other applications. Models may be "published" with an embedded viewer to enable others to view the models without purchasing the SolidView software. This no-cost player is particularly attractive when dealing with a customer's extended family of suppliers and sub-contractors. This capability enables these companies to more quickly and more accurately generate quotes and communicate engineering changes than by relying on traditional engineering drawings to communicate designs.
